I actually did do this with Bell, having begun to feel like I was dragging my heels with her for about 9-ish months, I uprooted her and then completely reorganized her priorities. It ended really well, all things considered and gave me a pretty awesome end to the character done over IRC with a few buddies of mine. Now I've rebooted the concept (with some pretty heavy adjustments) on another server, exploring a whole 'nother side to the what-ifs. Been a lot of fun so far >.> now I just need to get the money to actually transfer her to replace the 40something level druid I've been using. Maybe after I move.

What-ifs, are pretty much the bread and butter of Adel. Nothing she does is planned, everything is spur of the moment. Now, with the 5 month love triangle she was a part of, there was a LOT of OOC communication between myself, Dravir, and Tif. We actually did do a bit of long-term planning for that, and are all pretty happy with how it's turned out in the end. Many what-ifs were explored there, before we settled on our favorite.

I find myself doing this now with Jebediaeh. His story still needs to be told and there's two very distinct paths he could take. Each one is dependant upon how his interactions with others continue to play out. Time will tell.

It's a topic we've talked about with the WFR before. If Bricu and Threnn never met, I think Bricu's eventual path would have led him to being drummed out of the church. He'd cross the line far too many times and would bother trying to earn forgiveness. He'd also be a terrible drunk, a failed womanizer and have his own cell in the stocks.

He would have thrown himself into Ice Crown, unconsciously hoping to get killed (like Illithias. In fact, I could see him working a double cross that would be successful if he died in ICC... Of course, he'd end up surviving then.

If Threnn left now, Bricu'd devote his entire existence to their daughter. He'd revert to some of his older ways, but work hard to be an even better example to his daughter.

If Threnn died... Bricu would, once again, devote his whole life to Naiara. On the days he didn't have her, he'd be a wreck. I think he'd relapse, and there would have to be an entire story devoted to getting him back on the wagon.

Some of my characters have already been pushed through that process (you could argue that most Forsaken have already experienced it, what with, you know, becoming dead and all).

Skulley would not be what she is right now without certain events having pushed her to desperation beyond reach of conscience.

Ambika is the product of trauma and reversing her character would likely be a slow process... of course, it's equally likely she would simply snap under pressure and become, like Arrens, power hungry to the point of self-destruction.

Thiyenn has been through a lot herself, but remains pretty constant. I don't know what would change her. Maybe a lobotomy.

Ysani has a fair chance of encountering a horrible situation in the near future. I see it making her a very dependent (and, consequentially, very bitter and angry) person. I'm extremely hesitant about throwing her to the wolves, though, because of how much it could change her for the worse.

Good question! :)

I love exploring what-ifs. That's actually how the current Lyestra came about. In her original form, she was a warrior who turned from that path to become what she always wanted to be--a hunter.

When I rerolled her on another server, the question was: how would she be if she'd STAYED a warrior? Lo, the Bitter Blade was born and is now a favorite.

DK Ambrosine on ER is the same way, born of a what-if question and a million times deeper--and more fun to play!--than the original.

For me, it is also the first starting zone I was ever in, Deathknell. I currently have the Seeker title (which means I've done nearly every quest in the game), so I've been everywhere. Deathknell, and the plight of the Forsaken was always so interesting and sad to me. The sarcasm and bad moods of the NPCs, as well as their stories were always so interesting. I was never able to stand the happy, filled-with-honor, NPCs in the Alliance startups. The twisted nature of the Horde and the way they justified their evil (or in the case of the Foresaken, they didn't even bother to justify it) made killing those religious zealots all the more interesting.

It's amazing to me the thought and time that went in to the old world, especially. Everything is linked and has a story behind it. It's really quite astounding.
